The Arts & Community Facilitator Programme (ACFP) is a train-and-attach programme by ArtsWok Collaborative. It provides you with fundamental skills and practical experience in facilitating arts-based, person-centred activities in community settings, with a focus on seniors at Active Ageing Centres and similar spaces.
This programme integrates theoretical grounding with practical application in arts-based community facilitation through two primary components. As a trainee, you will first attend a Lab in Fundamentals for Arts & Community Facilitators to develop the necessary knowledge and skills. You will then progress to an on-site practicum to apply your learning in real-world contexts and gain hands-on experience, deeper insights, and valuable professional networks.
Who is This For
Arts practitioners with some community engagement experience who are seeking structured guidance and on-site practice in arts-based, person-centred facilitation with active seniors.
Learning Objectives
By completing this programme, you will learn how to:
- Recognise the role of arts-based facilitators and the range of work they undertake within the Arts & Community landscape
- Adopt ethical, person-centred, and critically reflective approaches to facilitation practice in community settings
- Develop and deliver appropriate arts-based activities that support the well-being of seniors at Active Ageing Centres or comparable community settings, with adaptable approaches for other participant groups
- Apply frameworks for activity design and adaptation
- Develop and evaluate your own facilitation plan
- Facilitate arts-based conversations on end-of-life topics
