The Greenhouse Sessions #6
Arts & Social Change: Creating a Culture of Possibilities
“Culture enlarges our spirits; connects us to our past, our future, and each other; and enables the imagination and empathy that support individual and collective resilience.” ~ Arlene Goldbard
Arts practices have the unique capacity to enable the expression of community values, goals, and identity. Through such cultural action, we make sense of our existence and environment; we learn from our past, imagine our future, and evolve creative solutions to address the increasingly complex challenges of our present.
In this session, we explore the role of arts and artists in bringing about systemic change and how we can create the conditions for creative collaborations between the arts, communities, and the social sector. Joining us to give her insights into this topic is Ms Chua Ai Liang, Director of Arts and Community at the National Arts Council.
